Biography

Blake Wayment is a New York City–based lyric baritone known for his clear tone and warm, flexible timbre. He has quickly become an active presence in New York’s professional choral and early music scene, performing regularly with ensembles such as Voices of Ascension, the Choir of Trinity Church NYC, Fifth Avenue Chamber Choir, the Choir of St. Ignatius Loyola, the Schola Cantorum of St. Vincent Ferrer, and St. Bartholomew’s Choir. His repertoire spans Renaissance polyphony through contemporary works, with a particular affinity for Bach and early sacred music. He has been selected as a member of the VOCES8 US Scholars Program for the 2026–2027 season.

Alongside his ensemble work, Blake is actively establishing himself as a concert and oratorio soloist both in New York and nationally. Recent and upcoming appearances include baritone solos in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Duruflé’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in A Major, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, and Bach’s Cantata Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (BWV 62). He will appear as the baritone aria soloist in Bach’s St. John Passion with the Fifth Avenue Chamber Choir this Easter, where he is also covering the role of Jesus.

Blake is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he studied classical vocal performance and sang for four years with the internationally acclaimed BYU Singers under the direction of R. Andrew Crane. Originally from Gilbert, Arizona, he now resides in Manhattan with his wife, pianist Savannah Rae.
